Unijos Students Protest Over Stabbed Colleague

A large number of University of Jos students today blocked Jos-Bauchi Road in protest over two of their colleagues who were allegedly stabbed by unknown Muslims.

The two students, P.M.NEWS learnt, were on Monday evening stabbed by unknown persons in front of the Naraguta Hostel.

An eyewitness, Bulus Majang narrated that the students, a boy and a girl, were on their way to the hostel, when a group of Muslim youths, who had gone to bury somebody at the burial ground located at the back of the hostel, went berserk.
According to him, the youths stabbed the lady and when the boy came to her assistance, he was also stabbed.

They were saved from untimely death as they were rushed to the Jos University Teaching Hospital for prompt medical attention.
One of the stabbed victims whose name was given as Dorothy, is said to be a 200 level student of the Department of Accountancy . It was when news filtered to the students on the campus that they trooped out en masse and blocked roads adjoining the Jos-Bauchi road.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the students engaged the other youths in a fisticuff, but the timely intervention of some soldiers nearby saved the situation.
The incident created another tension in town Tuesday as the students again came out in the early hours of the day to protest.

They again blocked all roads leading in and out of Bauchi road. Their action creation panic among residents of the city. Those who had opened shops hurriedly closed them, while parents rushed to take their wards from schools.

Normalcy was reastored later in the day.

Meanwhile, wife of Plateau State Governor, Mrs. Jonah Jang, has advised believers of all faith to remain resolute in prayers as there is no situation beyond the power of God.

Jang, in a press statement signed by Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Akila Kasham, condemned the series of bombings in Jos, especially in places of worship.

She described the bombings as the highest level of evil and man’s inhumanity to man.
While appealing to Christians to remain calm even in the face of persecution and unprovoked attacks, she urged them not to forget the biblical injunction that vengeance belongs only to God.
