Biggest Phone Outlet Shut At Computer Village

Officials of the Lagos State government have shut down Slot, the biggest distributors of communication equipment at the Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The officials of the task force locked up the two buildings housing the company and its blackberry shop over an illegal building it erected behind its main shop at the Computer Village.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the officials carried out the order after the state Physical Planning and Development Authority (LPPDA) received a petition that the company had erected the building to house its technical department.

They locked the building up with their padlocks and placed a seal to show that the company had flouted government rules.

Appeals by the management and staff of the organisation failed to yield any result as the officials explained that they were carrying out the orders of a higher authority.

None of the management staff of the company was willing to speak on the issue when P.M.NEWS contacted them, but a staff of the company, who did not want her name revealed, said the management was suspecting that the petition came from a competitor.

According to her, “My oga was at Alausa yesterday (Wednesday) after he got wind of the petition, but then, it was too late.

“What the officials are saying now is that he should have come before he erected the one-storey building, part of which he is using as store.”

She explained that it may take some days to get the issue resolved, adding that the organisation would lose a lot of money during this period as customers may be forced to go to other places.

However, a message pasted by the management of the organisation directed customers to their other branches and appealed for their understanding.
