Witnesses: How The Kaduna Easter Sunday bombing Happened


More than thirty persons today were feared dead as a suspected suicide bomber in a Honda car exploded with the bomb he was carrying at middle of Junction Road by Sarduana Crescent, according to witnesses.

The bomb blast which occurred at about 9.30am Easter Sunday not only killed scores but also injured over forty people including,motorists, Okada riders, passer- bys and shop owners around the area, who have been rushed to Saint Gerald Catholic Hospital,Rakiya Hospital, 44 Military Army Reference Hospital and those with severe injuries taken to Ahmadu Bello Teaching Hospital ,Shika, Zaria.

A witness, Samuel Okocha whose car and shop were affected by the bomb told PM.News that the suspected suicide bomber who drove in a Honda car was on full speed when suddenly he heard a heavy explosion.
Another eyewitness Augustine Vincent a member of Christ Embassy said he and his brother were on the motorcycle behind the Honda car popularly known as End of Discussion with registration number BB 111 DKA , when the bomb in the car exploded and threw them far away.

He said” the Okada man died and we were saved. We were saved by the blood of Christ who died and resurrected on Easter Sunday”.

Meanwhile, many Christians in the metropolis who had planned to go to church today, returned home upon hearing the news of the bomb blast.
But the Kaduna Police Commissioner , Abubakar Mohammed who described the incident as unfortunate gave assurance that the police will continue to provide security where necessary
