Readers Review: Who is 2011 Entertainer of the year?

For many entertainers this year, success poured like rain, they were literally drowning in it.

From music artistes to Nollywood actors and actresses , comedians, reality show winners, entertainment programme personalities, the list goes on and on.

It was a year of great reviews for these acts, and that is why Vanguard Online is giving our readers the opportunity to determine their own 2011′s Entertainer of the year.

Who amongst the following stars do you think has brought more smiles to our faces and joy to our hearts through his/her talents more than any other in 2011?

Dbanj

He co-won Black Entertainment BET’s award as Best International Act with Tuface Idibia in August. He also won Channel O Most Gifted male video artist and Special Recognition award.  His single “Oliver Twist” has been downloaded world wide by millions of his fans.

Tuface Idibia

Together with Dbanj, he took home BET’s award as Best International Act. He also reigned at the Headies award, scooping the Best R ‘N’ B album, Pop Album and Artiste of the year Awards. His album ‘Unstoppable’ was a massive hit.

WizKid

The young star took home  the Music Of Black Origin, MOBO,  award as Best African act 2011. He also won the next rated artist at the Headies award. While he was only months in the lime light, he struck a collaboration with Akon after a succesful launch of his debut album ‘Wiz kid’, ‘Superstar’ album was a commercial succes.

Asa

She is number one on CNN’s list of top ten African music artist. She was chosen based on fame, fan-base, number of concerts performed across the world, amongst other criteria. Asa won France’s prestigious Constantin award for new musical talent for her self-titled album which blends folk, soul and reggae beautifully.

Karen Igho

She came on to the Big Brother Amplified a sceptical yet confident contestant and swept off the winning prize alongside Zimbabwean Wendal Parson. Karen co-won after massive votes poured her way despite a very controversial life style that she’d put up in the house.

Mercy Johnson

This delectable and super gifted Nollywood actress also kept entertainment followers glued to the news. Not only for very impressive performances in her movie-role interpretations all year long that saw her featuring in many movies, but also a heightened marriage drama that turned out to be very emotional for her yet very entertaining for ecstatic entertainment followers.

Ice prince

He came fresh from the chocolate factory to win the most gifted new comer at the Channel O awards. His single ‘Oleku’ took home the song of the year award and Best rap single award at the Headies this year. He also got nominated for Best rap, hottest single and best new act at the NET awards.

Genevieve Nnaji

This embodiment of talent had a great year and, like Mercy Johnson, she had entertainment fans nosing through every detail they could find about her, particularly the purported romance she had with the koko master. Genevive, in 2011, stood shoulders high above her contemporaries, though she acted in fewer movies.

If your choice entertainer is not on this list, you are free to add up his/her name and vote  your 2011 Entertainer of the year!
