Rape of 11 year old girl in Okigwe, Imo State

Network on Police Reforms in Nigeria, NOPRIN, just received information about the alleged rape of an 11year old girl in Okigwe by an Okigwe-based businessman from Isuikwiuato, Imo State. The Victim's aunt told NOPRIN that the alleged rapist lured the little girl- who was hawking an item, to his apartment on the pretext of going to pay her for the item he bought from her. He raped the girl overnight while her guardians were searching for her.

The following morning, the alleged rapist put the girl on a bike that took her to her village where the guardians eventually found her. She's currently hospitalized at Okigwe General Hospital and in bad condition.

The suspect is said to have been arrested and detained at Okigwe Police Station. The IPO's name is given as Ossai, with phone number: 08063479188. NOPRIN is making efforts to get full information and the phone number of the DPO Okigwe Police Station.

Please people who live in that area should get involved and contact the police station - and that number I put there, please call it and disturb the hell out of the IPO. Find out all you can about this case...the perpetrator must not get away this time!

This has got to stop. Something drastic has got to happen. Child rapists should be sentenced to life in prison or something like it. Why are some people so demented?
