Makurdi – A 16-year-old boy, (name withheld) on Wednesday appeared before a Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with murder.
The prosecution told the court that the accused committed the offence at his friend’s place, where the deceased, Tertsea Ayila also visited to power his mother’s telephone handset.
The prosecution said that the accused without provocation took a locally made gun belonging to the owner of the house, one Paul Asav and shot the 14-year-old Ayila on his head.
The prosecution said that Ayila died, while he was being rushed to the hospital and that the offence contravened Section 222 of the Penal Code of Benue State, 2004.
When the case came up for mention, no plea was taken as the accused was a juvenile, whose case should be handled at a Juvenile Court.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Theresa Wergba, transferred the case to the Juvenile Court for further hearing.
